BURCU YASEMIN ÅžEYBEN
Rhinoceros
by Eugène Ionesco
in a new version by Zinnie Harris
Nov 19-21, 2020
College of Southern Idaho, Twin Falls, ID
One of the masterpieces of absurd theatre, Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, in an adaptation by Zinnie Harris, shows how ordinary men transform into rhinoceroses. Zinnie Harris’ adaptation brings Ionesco’s response to the rise of Fascism and Nazism during World War II to modern times. She explores how the increasing rightism in Europe brings us face to face with questions about conformity, fascism, responsibility, logic, mass movements, mob mentality, philosophy, and morality.
